Each year the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre delivers a program called “A Time to Remember” to honour and thank all who have served and sacrificed for our Country. This year Patrick Dennis, author of “Reluctant Warriors: Canadian Conscripts and the Great War”, will be presenting stories of conscripted soldiers from the Great War including soldiers from Bruce County. Conscription was sometimes called the draft and is the compulsory enlistment of people, most often to military service.

A graduate of the University of Windsor, Patrick Dennis is a retired Air Force Colonel. Trained as a Fighter Controller, he served abroad for over 22 years, including tours as Canada’s Deputy Military Representative to the NATO Military Committee in Brussels, Belgium, and as the Defence Attaché to Israel. He is also a graduate of the United States Armed Forces Staff College and the NATO Defence College. After leaving the military, Patrick lectured on global political-military affairs at Wilfrid Laurier University, and was a part-time instructor with the Canadian Forces College, Toronto, specializing in command and management and the law of armed conflict. “Reluctant Warriors: Canadian Conscripts and the Great War” is Patrick’s first book.

A Time to Remember will take place on November 7, 2019, Doors & Cash Bar open 7:30pm, Presentation begins at 7:00 pm. Addmission for members is $10 (+H.S.T.), for the public it's $14 (+H.S.T.), and veterans get in for free.
