CHATSWORTH - Drivers should be cautious when approaching intersections, especially during the winter months, Grey County OPP warn.
In winter, the approaches to a stop sign can become more slippery than the rest of the road. When approaching an intersection you should decelerate well in advance to avoid a possible slippery condition.
During a power outage when traffic signals are not functioning, the intersection becomes a four-way stop. Even when you have the right-of- way at a stop condition, always watch the vehicle approaching the intersection to make sure they come to a complete stop safely.
If snow banks on the shoulders of the road are reducing your visibility, edge out very slowly without encroaching into the on-coming driving lane, and only proceed when you can see that it's safe to do so.
