Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey and the County of Bruce are partnering to bring you our International Women’s Day celebration on Tuesday, March 3rd from 6-9pm at the Lakeshore Recreation Club in Port Elgin. Last year, a sold out crowd enjoyed the amazing keynote speaker and all the activities throughout the evening - this year you won’t want to miss out on another spectacular line-up. You’ll hear all about the amazing contributions to community the winners of this year’s awards have made.

The winners for this year are:

· Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey 2020 Woman of Distinction Award: Ruth Montgomery

· Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey 2020 Young Woman of Distinction Award: Morgan Ritchie

· Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey 2020 Inspiring Woman of Distinction Award: Amy Bross

Normally we just give out 2 awards (Woman and Young Woman of Distinction), but this year we had a submission that was so compelling, and was a winner by a wide margin, Amy Bross. Unfortunately, Amy passed away from a tragic accident recently, and since part of our criteria for being eligible for the award is that the recipient must be present to accept it, that made her ineligible. Since she made such an impact, not only on her family, her nominator and our judges, but also on our community, that it made us determined that she needed to be acknowledged in some way. So, for this year only, we have created an posthumous award, called the Inspiring Woman of Distinction, and her family will accept the award on her behalf. We hope you will join us to hear all about all of our exceptional winners.

There will be appetizers and a dessert bar, cash bar available, we will also be having a Trivia Game, Silent Auction and Live Auction, and then Jamie McMillan, our Keynote Speaker will speak. You can check out our link for tickets for more information on the event, or to purchase a $45 ticket to the event at: Bruce County & Women's House Serving Bruce & Grey IWD2020 - Jamie McMillan (please note that there is no assigned seating and appetizers and dessert only - no full meal - will be served). There will be tables of 8, but seating is not reserved, unless you have a large group and have made a request. Requests can be made by contacting [email protected].

In addition to all the entertaining parts of the celebration, the event is also a fundraiser for Women’s House. As privileged members of our community, we have an opportunity to give back to support those less fortunate than us. We work with some of the most vulnerable members of our communities – women and children fleeing violence. Because we are not adequately funded by government, we rely upon community generosity to be able serve all women and children who come to us asking for help. With your support, we can continue to meet the needs of those most in need of safety, protection, and support.
