The Municipality of Meaford is seeking volunteers to fill vacancies on our Community Policing Advisory Committee, Committee of Adjustment and Meaford Business Improvement Area (BIA). The Municipality is also advertising for volunteers to join the newly established Parks Advisory Committee.
Applicants must live, work or own property or business in the Municipality of Meaford. Applicants for the Business Improvement Area (BIA) Board must be owners or tenants of a commercial property within the BIA.
Applications are available online at www.meaford.ca/appointments or can be picked up at the Municipal office at 21 Trowbridge Street West. The deadline for applications is Wednesday March 18, 2020 at 4:30 p.m.
There are currently positions available for the following boards and committees:
Committee of Adjustment
The Committee of Adjustment reviews applications for consents and zoning minor variances.
Required: 1 member
Meetings: 4th Wednesday of the month at 3:00 p.m.
Business Improvement Area (BIA) Board of Management
The BIA Board manages BIA activities, including events and downtown beautification. Board members must be owners or tenants of commercial property in the BIA.
Required: 2 members
Meetings: 6 times a year, generally on the 3rd Wednesday at 8:00 a.m.
Community Policing Advisory Committee
The Community Policing Advisory Committee functions in line with the provisions set out in the Police Services Act and shall advise the local OPP detachment commander of the objectives and priorities for police services in the Municipality. Additionally, it shall provide advice to Council on matters of community policing in the municipality.
Required: 2 members
Meetings: 4 times a year, generally on Wednesday afternoons
Parks Advisory Committee
The Parks Advisory Committee is to advise and assist Council and staff on matters relating to the use and development of municipal parkland, and represent the wider community’s desires for parkland.
The Parks Committee shall also advise Council about the future of municipal parks.
Required: 7 members
Meetings: 6 times a year, generally on Wednesday afternoons
