midwives

Babies are still being born in Grey Bruce in the middle of this pandemic. Many of them are being helped along by the strong, skilled hands of a midwife, but those midwives need help themselves.

The Grey Bruce Midwives are in serious need of N95 and surgical masks, nitrile gloves, protective gowns and hand sanitizer and wipes.

Ericka Hardy has stepped up to arrange for donation and collection. “The midwives are so busy at births and doing their regular work that no one has the time for this,” said Hardy. “The problem is that the midwives have access to equipment when they do a hospital birth but not for the extra precautions needed now for home births.”

Any quantities are welcomed. Ericka can be reached at 519-270-7177 or [email protected] for drop off location.

Grey Bruce Midwives is a group of eleven Registered Midwives serving Grey and Bruce counties.  Midwives are primary care providers who provide care in pregnancy, labour & delivery, and for six weeks after the birth.

They offer and support choice of birthplace, including home and hospital, with hospital privileges at 3 area hospitals: Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound, the South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Walkerton and the Hanover District Hospital.

Their clinic is located in downtown Owen Sound.
