summer campThe Municipality of Meaford has made the difficult decision to cancel summer camps for the 2020 season due to COVID-19.

Each summer the Municipality partners with local businesses and organizations in offering experiential summer camps for youth ranging from 5-12 years old.

“With the Blue Dolphin Pool closed, we aren’t able to offer our usual summer swim camps” said Clerk/Director of Community Services Matt Smith. “The safety of the families in our community is our top priority, and at this time we don’t feel that we would be able to offer our other summer camps in a way that enforces the necessary social distancing and cleaning protocols. By making this decision now, we are allowing our partner organizations to focus on managing their regular operations. We are also allowing our summer staff to seek other employment, and giving parents time to arrange alternate summer activities for their children.”

Since the Municipality of Meaford declared a state of emergency on March 25, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Blue Dolphin Pool has been closed for the summer, and the Municipality has delayed hiring 18 seasonal staff.

The Municipality will continue to investigate alternative family activities and events for residents as restrictions are lifted and new safety protocols are established.
