As Grey County hits the fifth day with no new lab-onfirmed cases of Covid-19 and only eight cases remain unresolved within the Grey-Bruce region, you might think our Public Health Unit was ready to stand down. But Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra and his staff will be watching the numbers carefully as they prepare to help the public and a wide variety of businesses, services and public spaces prepare for the re-opening phase under the provincial framework.
"To try to help the general public understand why it is being done in stages, the Grey Bruce Health Unit has developed this video titled Reopening and Riskiness. Along with this reopening infographic, we hope everyone has a better understanding of the rationale behind the reopening strategy for both the province and locally."
The Public Health website also includes information on very specific topics, like face coverings in retail locations and considerations for seasonal residents and visitors.
The number of tests in Ontario is increasing, and the number of new daily cases is not increasing, which provincial public health leaders are taking as an encouraging and that the province is ready to enter Stage 2. Rules for re-opening change frequently, and no municipal or private space is obliged to re-open until those responsible for it feel they are safe and prepared.
Check with municipal (here's Owen Sound's) and provincial websites for the most current information.
