Humanity is responsible for every problem that our society faces. Whether we're talking about climate change, poverty, racism, misogyny, violence, or apathy, they're all self-inflicted; the consequences of our life styles and our culture. It's a hard fact to accept. Our adult comfort with business as usual and the status quo keep us from seeing our problems and we simple can't solve problems that we don't see.
So, if we want to change the world for the better then we need to put the kids in charge...

During an election campaign, it is quite easy for candidates and leaders to get caught up in the 'buzz' of the election and make promises that are politically motivated but are not practically responsible from an operational standpoint. This is exactly what the Liberal Party and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have done in regards to Canada's involvement in aiding Syrian refugees.
The Honourable John McCallum, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship has announced that the Liberal Party remains committed to their lofty campaign commitment of relocating 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of the year. During the announcement the Minister stated that the government will be taking a "whatever works" stance on the issue to bring 25,000 refugees to Canada in roughly 7 weeks. Since the government made this announcement a number of experts have claimed that this goal is impossible and if the government decides to proceed on a rushed basis this plan could jeopardize the responsible intake of refugees.
This is entirely a politically motivated policy based on an irresponsible campaign announcement. I am disappointed

Out there on a strip of land created by the St. Lawrence, commonly called Grosse Isle, there are graves, names in a direct line, names of my grandfathers and grandmothers, of my mother and my father. They came here fleeing a natural disaster neglected by a government under an act of union that claimed they were citizen-subjects of the same country. The city of Montreal is about to pump untreated sewage into the waters that create this sacred ground, claiming that it will have dissipated before it can wash up and profane it. But from one section of the water to another, like the black rock screams, it is all connected; those who landed in Montreal, the 6000 dead the stone speaks for, buried their dead at the typhus quarantine on Grosse, before they made their way west, to join them in the pit.
Even if you don't take the page of ancestors or sacred, personal heritage grounds into the equation, have the people of this city, forgotten their own history, both local and national? Have they never heard of or simply forgotten ...
