On Saturday morning at approximately 6:00 a.m. a frightened resident called the Owen Sound Police to report a man yelling and brandishing a handgun which he pointed at his own head. Officers located the man in the 700 block of 1st Avenue East and took him into custody without incident.
The 28-year-old Owen Sound resident was found to be heavily under the influence of alcohol and had the gun, later determined to be a black BB gun, designed to look like a 9mm handgun, in his rear waist band. He was also found to be wearing a light body armour ballistic vest.
The man now faces criminal charges of carrying an imitation weapon for the purpose dangerous to public peace and carrying a concealed weapon. His charges will be heard in the Owen Sound Court of Justice on November 5th, 2020.
