Members of the Owen Sound Police Service were patrolling a west side neighbourhood when an officer observed a male known to him to have warrants for his arrest. Additional units were notified to assist and the male was quickly and safely taken into custody without incident.

The accused was searched incident to arrest and was found to be in possession of a replica handgun that he had concealed. The accused was brought back to the Owen Sound Police Station where he is being held for bail on numerous charges including Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Breach of a Weapons Prohibition Order that was issued by the Court from past weapons related offences. The accused was further bound by several Court release documents and was additionally charged with Fail to Comply with Probation (2 counts), Fail to Comply with Undertaking (2 counts), and Fail to Comply with Release Order (2 counts).

Carrying weapons or replica firearms that look real is a serious criminal offence and can be extremely dangerous for both members of the public as well as the Police.
