On Thursday, Apr. 6, at approximately 1:00 p.m., a motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of 20th Street and 16th Avenue East, Owen Sound.
Emergency Services responded to the scene and located a Volkswagon Golf, with air bags deployed, that had rolled over and come to rest in a ditch. Fortunately, both involved drivers avoided injury.
A subsequent investigation conducted by the Owen Sound Police Service concluded that a cargo van had failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the Volkswagon Golf which was travelling westbound on 20th Street East.
It is evident that the driver of the Volkswagon Golf avoided what was potentially very serious injuries thanks in large part to the proper use of their seatbelt.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene.
The 28- year-old male driver of the cargo van was charged with failing to stop for a stop sign contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
