Two people arrested for break-ins a at Wiarton residence.
From December 28, 2017 to January 19, 2018 Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police were called on 3 separate occasions for break and enters and the theft of property from a residence on Highway 6 north of Wiarton. Following the first two dispatches, no suspects were identified or located at the residence.
On January 19, 2018 following a canvass of the area residences and businesses police located a male and female in a motel room with stolen property. The male and female were arrested and transported to the Bruce Peninsula OPP detachment. A warrant was executed on the motel room with assistance from OPP Crime Unit - Grey/Bruce, OPP Community Street Crime Unit - Grey/Bruce.
A 43-year-old male from Owen Sound has been charged with the following:
- 3 charges of Break and Enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
A 51-year-old female of South Bruce Peninsula has been charged with the following:
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Obstruct Peace Officer
The female accused was released on a Promise to Appear and Undertaking to attend Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 1, 2018. The male accused was held for a bail hearing on January 20, 2018.
