Early Sunday morning an officer with the Owen Sound Police was on routine patrol in the area of 9 th Avenue East when he observed a male walking in the area. The officer recognized the male as a suspect in recent cases of vehicles being entered and cash and credit cards being stolen. The cards had subsequently been used by the suspect at various retail locations in the city. A brief foot pursuit ensued and the suspect was arrested without incident. A 20 year Owen Sound resident faces several charges including theft, theft of a credit card, using a stolen credit card and
breaching conditions of a probation order. He will appear in court in March to answer to the charges. Police are describing the thefts as crimes of opportunity and remind residents to be vigilant in securing their vehicles.
