fentanyl womanThrough investigation, with co-operation from other policing agencies, Hanover Police investigators were able to identify the suspect as 31-year-old female, Saundra MacNeil, of No Fixed Address. On Thursday, February 22, 2018 Saundra MacNeil was arrested and has been remanded into custody.

Saundra MacNeil has been charged with the following offences:

· Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Fentanyl) for the Purpose of Trafficking

· Possession of Property obtained by Crime

· Fraud Under $5,000

· Use a Forged Document x2

· Fail to Comply with Recognizance x6

The Hanover Police Service wants to remind citizens that given the current state of the Opioid Crisis, offences such as these are treated seriously and they are pleased the suspect was identified. Fentanyl is a powerful narcotic and even a small amount can cause injury or death.

Back on December 20, 2017, the Hanover Police Service receive a call to attend a pharmacy in the Town of Hanover regarding a forged Fentanyl prescription.

Police learned that on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 6:30 pm a female had called the pharmacy the pharmacy advising their Doctor had mixed up the street name on their Narcotic prescription. The female advised the prescription was supposed to be sent to a pharmacy located at Hanover Street in Toronto, Ontario. The female advised the pharmacy in Hanover she was willing to drive from Toronto to fill the prescription anyhow. The female had a detailed cover story, which involved her relocating form the United States and suffering from a medical issue that had been discovered. The suspect appeared to have a newborn with her when filling the prescription.

The female arrived at the pharmacy and surrendered a prescription on official looking letterhead for a significant quantity of Transdermal Fentanyl Patches. The female also surrendered a fraudulent temporary Ontario Driver's Licence.
