On Monday, April 16th, 2018, the Hanover Police Service received a call to attend a business in the 800 block of 10th Street, Hanover regarding a counterfeit $50.00 bill.
Police attended and arrested a 26-year-old female from Hanover. She was found to be in possession of other counterfeit bills and related materials for producing counterfeit currency. Hanover Police believe that further counterfeit bills are being circulated.
This is an ongoing investigation and Hanover Police Service expects to make further arrests.
Hanover Police are reminding merchants to be extra vigilant whenever accepting cash. The counterfeit denominations being circulated in Hanover have been $50.00 and $20.00 bills. They are of poor quality and should be easy to identify as counterfeit.
