A woman has been charged after attempting to evade a RIDE check.
A 33 year old woman from St. Catherine's is facing impaired driving charges after attempting to avoid a RIDE check point early this morning. Officers were conducting a RIDE check on the west side of Owen Sound shortly before 3:00 a.m. when their attention was drawn to a vehicle being west bound in an aggressive manner.
As the vehicle approached the officers it made a sudden turn into a nearby parking lot in what appeared to be an evasive manoeuvre. Police made contact with the woman to investigate and a roadside screening device was administered. The woman failed the roadside test and was transported to the station for tests by a qualified technician. The woman's blood alcohol content is alleged to have been almost double the legal limit.
The vehicle she was driving was impounded for 7 days and her licence was suspended for 90 days pending the outcome of the case. She will appear in court on August 16th to answer to the charges.
