The Owen Sound Police Service Auxiliary Unit has completed its annual Christmas food drive in Owen Sound and is extending their warmest thanks to everyone in the city who contributed to help make this year’s so successful.
Local food stores ZEHRS, FOOD BASICS and METRO permitted us to run the events onsite for three consecutive week-ends.
The total weight of food collected at these locations was 7,470 LBS and the generous cash donations totaled $3,636.31. The food donations are up over 1500 lbs over last year.
All of the cash and food has been turned over to the Salvation Army food bank to help bring some food and happiness to those families in our city that could use a hand-up this holiday season.
Our Auxiliary Police Unit has been in existence since 1989 and is a compliment of citizens who volunteer their time in the community on police patrol, at community events and who assist with coordinating family fun in the summer months. They are a proud part of our policing history and future.
The members of the Owen Sound Auxiliary Police Unit wish you, your families and friends a very Merry Christmas and a safe 2019; and sincerely thank the grocery stores and all the people that contributed this year.
