Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police, with the assistance of the OPP Technical Traffic Investigation Unit, is investigating a snowmobile collision that occurred last night.
On February 28, 2019, at approximately 8:32 p.m., Bruce Peninsula OPP, Grey County OPP and Bruce Peninsula Paramedic Services responded to a report of a serious single snowmobile collision that occurred on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trail north of Park Head Road in the municipality of South Bruce Peninsula.
Investigation revealed that the snowmobile was travelling northbound when it left the trail and collided head on with a tree. The operator, a 37 year old male from Arran-Elderslie, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin/family notification.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled for March 1, 2019 in Owen Sound.
