On Wednesday, May 1st, 2019 at approximately 7:00 p.m., police received a 911 call from a west side resident reporting that they had arrived home to find their house broken into and blood in the house. A dog belonging to the homeowner was found suffering from severe wounds caused by blows to its head and body. Shortly after, police received a call of an injured male at another west side residence. Police determined that the male at this home was responsible for the break in to the other west side home and had attacked the dog once inside. The dog was taken to a veterinarian where it succumbed to its injuries. The male was apprehended and taken to the hospital for treatment. There is no known connection between the male and the home that was broken into. The 23 year old man from Owen Sound remains in custody and faces the following charges:
- Break and Enter
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Cruelty to an Animal
