An unidentified projectile that struck a residence on Carney Street in the Township of Georgian Bluffs almost five (5) years ago has been located. At the time, the projectile was not recovered but police believed it to be a bullet based on the damage to the residence.

On April 29, 2019 Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from the resident reporting that the projectile that had struck the residence back in June 16, 2014 was located. The projectile, confirmed to be a bullet, was found lodged inside a book that had been resting on a book shelf mounted on the wall on the second floor of the residence.

Police seized the item for examination by the Mount Forest OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit.

Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate after an unidentified projectile, believed to be from a small caliber, high velocity firearm, struck a residence on Carney St., in the Township of Georgian Bluffs on Monday, June 16, 2014.

At approximately 12:15 p.m. on Monday, June 16th, the home owners heard a loud "popping" sound. A short time later they discovered debris of wood splinters in the master bedroom. After further examination of the residence they located what appeared to be a bullet hole through the 2nd story exterior frame siding of their home.

Investigation revealed that the projectile penetrated the exterior wall and passed through a total of three rooms on the upper floor.

The OPP Forensic Identification Unit - Mount Forest was called to assist.

Two adults and one child were inside the residence at the time. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Police believe this was an isolated incident.
