During election years, police receive many calls for service where residents of the city report that their electoral candidate support signs have been damaged, stolen or strewn about the roadway.
The Owen Sound Police Service is reminding the public that it is a criminal offence for any person to remove, damage or interfere with any property that they have no ownership of. This includes election signs.
We ask that you respect the views of others and the Canadian democratic process.
If anyone witnesses the removal or defacing of election signs during the 2019 federal campaign please contact the Owen Sound Police Service at 519-376-1234 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS). If you see a crime in progress always dial 9-1-1.
