On Wednesday the 25th of September 2019 at approximately 2:30 pm Owen Sound Police attended a 2 vehicle collision at the intersection of 4th Avenue West and 11th Street West.
Investigation revealed that a 24 year old Grey County woman was driving her sedan northbound on 4th Avenue West approaching 11th Street West. The driver had her left turn signal activated despite having no intention of turning. At this same time a 38 year old Owen Sound man was driving his sedan southbound. Believing the other vehicle was turning left, the male driver initiated a left turn as well. The male driver subsequently turned into the path of the other vehicle which continued northbound into the intersection.
The collision caused the northbound vehicle to veer to the right where it struck a hydro pole. The pole was sheered off at the base and was only kept from falling due to the wires. A Hydro crew had to attend to repair the pole.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and required towing. Both drivers were checked for minor injuries. The male driver was charged with Left turn – fail to avoid collision and the female driver was charged with improper use of turn signal.
