opplogosleeveSince November 6, 2019 to today's date, Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have responded to 41 motor vehicle collisions throughout the detachment patrol area. The cause of the collisions range from deer entering the roadway to poor driving habits. The change of weather has become a factor for the increase of collisions. The Grey/Bruce area has seen some significant snow fall over the past week.

Winter driving tips

  • Check weather and travel conditions before heading out. Don't take chances if the weather is bad, wait until conditions improve.
  • Prepare your vehicle before you travel. Clear snow and ice so it doesn't obstruct your view to the front, side or rear of the vehicle and remove excess snow from the roof.
  • If you must go out, drive according to weather conditions. Give yourself plenty of time to get to where you are going.
  • Use the basic rule of thumb for spacing your vehicle with a vehicle in front - 1 vehicle length per 10km/h

Grey Bruce OPP are asking drivers to slow down on snow covered roads and drive safe.
