On February 16, 2020 at 4:49 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint involving a (black) car being driven erratically and speeding northbound on Bruce Road 10. OPP officers stopped the car on Highway 6, north of Wiarton, Bruce County.
The stopped vehicle was found to be stolen from Hanover. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were arrested at the scene by OPP officers.
The 23 year old driver from Hanover was charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle, section 333.1 Criminal Code of Canada (CC), Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, section 355(a) CC and Fail to Comply with Probation Order, section 733.1(1) CC.
The 35 year old passenger, also from Hanover, was charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle, section 333.1 Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 section 355(a) CC.
The two accused were released on Undertakings to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 12, 2020.
