Just before midnight on March 24th, 2020, a concerned citizen contacted the Owen Sound Police to make a report of a suspicious person who had been knocking on doors in an upper east side neighbourhood.

Police attended the area to look for the person but were simultaneously called away for a house on fire in the same general area. Police
attended and observed flames approximatley 3-4 feet in height, inside the enclosed front porch of the residence.

Members of the Owen Sound Police Service were able to extinguish the fire and further located a man at the scene who had set the blaze. The 64 year old Owen Sound man was arrested and charged with Arson - disregarding human life.

The same man was further investigated in relation to a separate unrelated incident from earlier in the day. He was additionally charged with Assault and Uttering Threats.

The man will appear in the Owen Sound Court for a bail hearing later today.
