On Wednesday April 22, 2020 the Criminal Investigations Branch of the Owen Sound Police Service concluded an investigation into two suspicious fires that took place at a west side apartment building. The fires occurred on August 15, 2019 and February 29, 2020.

The Owen Sound Fire Department responded to each of the fires and were successful in limiting the spread of the flames and damage was confined to a small area. The fires did not result in injury to any occupants of the building.

Detectives collaborated with members of the Fire Department as well as representatives of the apartment building which resulted in the discovery of evidence confirming that the fires were deliberately set.

A female youth of Owen Sound has been arrested and charged with two counts of Arson- damage to property and is scheduled to appear at the Youth Court of Justice in July, 2020.

The accused cannot be identified as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
