On December 24, 2019, human remains were found in the area of Southgate Road 10, east of Highway 6 in the Township of Southgate. Following a forensic examination, the deceased has been identified as Monica Chisar of Hamilton. Investigators have determined the victim died as a result of homicide.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Grey Bruce Detachment Crime Unit, and Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), continue to investigate this homicide with the assistance of the Hamilton Police Service Major Crime Unit.
Monica was last seen in Hamilton on July 11, 2018 and was reported missing by her family in September 2018. Monica had been dropped off in a parking lot at Barton Street East and Parkdale Avenue North, just after midnight. She was known to spend time in the Greater Toronto Area, Kitchener and Hamilton.
