People who came to see the best Pro Late Model drivers in the Province of Ontario battle it out Saturday night at Sauble Speedway were not disappointed! In what is going down as the closest finish in APC racing history it was the 21 of Matt Pritiko from London edging 89 Shawn Chenoweth from Plattsville at the line by less than a foot.
Chenoweth started sixth but once getting to front was the driver to beat controlling the tempo of the race and every restart but it took a corner four bump and run by Pritiko who had started fourth to set up the drag race to the stripe. Third would go to a Sauble Speedway regular 8 Jason Parker from Port Elgin with current APC points leader 83 Dale Shaw from Guelph coming in fourth and rounding out the top five was another former Beach regular 35 Andy Kamrath who now lives in Innisfill.
In Lucas Oil Sportsmen Cup action fans were treated to a race which had many twists and turns but in the end it was 14 Brandt Graham from Bowmanville bringing home the checker. Second would go to 18 Chad McGlynn out of Kitchener, third 48 Doug Cathcart from Ottawa, fourth 51 Kevin Gallant from Vanessa and rounding out the top five 54 Kevin Allen from Drumbo.
The Ontario Pro Challenge where also on hand for their only visit to Sauble Speedway this season and this exciting series did not disappoint the fans on hand. After some exciting heat race action it would be 38 Kyle Batty taking home the hardware ahead of 18 Patrick Freel from London. Third would go to 88 Tim Norris, fourth 16 Rick Seeley and rounding out the top five 08 Peter Hattin. Heat wins would go to 38 Batty with two and one each for 08 Hattin and 00 Ken Lillycrop.
In Jr Late Model action eight cars show up for their first night of the 2016 and these young guns of the racing world put on a great show with a good mix of experienced drivers and rookies. In the end it would be one of the new veterans of this class 88 Tyson Schreinert from Ayton taking both feature races this night followed by 7 Ty Cavallin from Owen Sound in both races along with third in both races going to 3 Shane Jacobs from London. Fourth in feature one went to 25 Zenas Johnston and fifth 8 Kyle Parker from Hanover.
Sauble Speedway also introduced its new Bone Stock class this night with no less than 10 cars taking part. In feature one it would be the 90 of Andy Wheller from Milton taking the checker followed by 92 Kyle Neumeister from Stratford, third was 18 Josh Shantz from Kitchener fourth 277 Ray Flynn from Clinton and rounding out the top five 9 Jeremy Schindel. In feature two it was 18 Josh Shantz taking the checker followed by 90 Andy Wheller, third 66 Kevin Jackman, fourth 92 Neumeister and rounding out the top five 9 Jeremy Schindel.
