Attack kick off northern swing against North Bay.
The Owen Sound Attack are set to make their annual pilgrimage to Northern Ontario this weekend, with a trio of games beginning on Thursday night in North Bay.
Squaring off against the Battalion for the 2nd and final time in the 2017-18 to kickstart the northern swing, the Attack will also play Sault Ste. Marie on Friday night before concluding their four day roadie in Sudbury on Sunday afternoon.
Trending upwards after back to back wins snapped a seven game losing streak, the Attack will take their 16-16-1-5 record (38 points, 4th Midwest) into North Bay against a Battalion team that traded away its top two players at the trade deadline.
Sitting at 15-19-5-1 and in 3rd place in the Central Division, North Bay will welcome back former first round picks Brett McKenzie and Brady Lyle for the 1st time since both were dealt by Stan Butler to the Attack.
Thursday night's game, a 7:00pm start, will also mark the 1st time that Owen Sound and North Bay will meet since the two sides squared off on Oct. 28 at the Bayshore, a 3-2 win for Owen Sound.
Following the game, which can be viewed live on Rogers Local 53 and listened to on Kia of Owen Sound/Terry's Trailer Service Bear Radio on 560 CFOS, the Attack will travel further west for a meeting with the Canadian Hockey League's top ranked Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
In first place in the OHL with 73 points thanks to a sterling 35-3-2-1 record, Sault Ste. Marie will play host to the Bayshore Boys for the 1st time since Owen Sound defeated the Hounds in Game 5 of last year's Western Conference Semi Finals on Apr. 14.
The Hounds, who loaded up at the trade deadline by acquiring Taylor Raddysh and Jordan Sambrook from the Erie Otters, are led by OHL leading scorer Morgan Frost, who has 24 goals and 42 assists in 40 games on the year.
Nick Suzuki continues to pace the Attack offensively, leading the team with 18 goals and 32 assists in 34 games, while Sean Durzi has 47 points in 35 appearances for Owen Sound on the season.
Like Thursday night's contest, Friday's game against the Hounds will be available live on Rogers Local 53 and on Kia of Owen Sound/Terry's Trailer Service Bear Radio on 560 CFOS.
The Attack will then complete their weekend with the 2nd and final meeting of the year with the Sudbury Wolves on Sunday afternoon to wrap up their road trip.
Fans should note, however, that Sunday's 2:00pm contest in Sudbury will NOT be televised and is available only through Kia of Owen Sound/Terry's Trailer Service Bear Radio or through the OHL Live web streaming service.
