The Owen Sound Attack will kick off the 2018 Ontario Hockey League Playoffs on Thursday, March 22 at home against the London Knights.
After closing out the season on a six game winning streak, the Attack needed some help from the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds to secure home ice, and the OHL's top team in the regular season came through; defeating London 6-3 on Sunday, Mar. 18 to cap the Knights' regular season point total at 82 compared to Owen Sound's 84.
With the loss, the Knights will now be forced to start the post season in the hostile confines of the Bayshore, with games one and two of the Western Conference Quarterfinals going at 7:00pm on Thursday and then at 7:30pm on Saturday, Mar. 24.
And while the Attack may hold home ice advantage in the 1st round, the edge in the season series between the two squads goes to the Knights.
In six games over the course of the 2017-18 season, London held a 4-2 edge, winning four straight head to head matchups between the sides stretching from Nov. 4 - Jan. 26.
Despite London's success against the Attack in the regular season, Owen Sound, was victorious in the final meeting between the teams on the year, a 4-2 win at the Bayshore on Wednesday, Feb. 14.
