Two women with Grey County connections finished second and third in the Toronto Good Life Marathon on Sunday, May 5th. Veronica Allan (left) finished second, running the 42.2 kilometre course through Toronto in only 3:00:05 and Brianna Cavan (right) finished third behind her with a time of 3:03:24. Allan and Cavan were both raised in Grey County and attended West Hill Secondary School where they ran together on the cross country team. Allan now works in academia and as a journalist based in Ottawa. Cavan works as a midwife with Midwives Grey Bruce. According to MarathonCanada.com they were both in the top 100 women marathon runners in the country last year. Sunday's results suggest they will hold on to that title again in 2019. Many runners consider breaking a three-hour marathon to be a lifetime achievement. Tantalizingly close, Allan and Cavan will be toeing the start line again soon to make that dream a reality.
