Last Friday (May 3), history was made at the Home of the Alexandra Eagles. The entire school came out to watch our first annual Stanley Pot Championship game.
The AHL (Alexandra Hockey League) began its regular season on January 6. Students from grades 3 to 8 were drafted onto teams and competed at recess throughout the season. At the end of the playoffs there were two teams left - the Sneaky Snakes and the Puck Pigs.
On Friday, at 2:00, they went head to head one more time to determine the 2019 Stanley Pot Champions. The game was a 'nail-biter' with the score going back and forth throughout the game and ending regulation time with a 3-3 tie!
However, in sudden death overtime, Bradley Wilder of the Sneaky Snakes scored to finish the game and earn his team the Cup. Our entire school community enjoyed rockin' music, hotdogs and epic hockey. What a great way to end our week and a wonderful ball hockey season!
