Dear Editor,
I am writing this letter in praise of a local food producer, the Miner family of Kemble. They are easily found at the Owen Sound Farmers' Market on Saturdays with their gorgeous bottles of maple syrup, inside, surrounded by the the seductive aroma of freshly baked breads. A few years ago as a newcomer I purchased their granulated maple sugar, Hot Maple Curry and used it on everything, vegetables, soups, meats but let me share my favourite:
Slather butter on naan bread (available across the aisle at the Market)
Sprinkle maple curry sugar generously....
Owen Sound's favourite downtown event returns on Friday December 4th, with more than 40 businesses participating in "FESTIVE 1st FRIDAY". Each store will do something special for Christmas shoppers: workshops, music, specials and unveilings. Participants will provide wish lists for shoppers to fill out and hand over to that special person who's not sure what to get you for Christmas!

Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival - Call for Submissions
Owen Sound, Ontario - Wednesday, November 18 - Attention young filmmakers! The libraries of Bruce and Grey counties want your films for the 2016 Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival to be held at the Owen Sound Galaxy Cinemas on April 27, 2016.
Enter for a chance to see your film on the big screen at the Owen Sound Galaxy Cinema, and a chance to win cash prizes. In addition to the Galaxy screening, some of the films submitted to the 2016 Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival will be selected to screen at the Meaford International Film Festival, at the Meaford Hall on the Labour Day weekend.
Short animated or live action films of a maximum of 10 minutes in length from students in grades 7 through 12 are eligible. Interested teens can pick up an application form from their public library or download one from the Library's website: www.owensound.library.on.ca. Deadline for submissions is Friday, April 1, 2016. Selected films will be shown at a festival screening at the Galaxy Cinema in Owen Sound, on April 27, 2016. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and announced after the screening.
