The Owen Sound dog park property has changed hands, but the park remains. An agreement with the new owners goes to Council on Monday, and includes a renewal of the rules of use of the park. Good time for users, potential users and neighbours to give them a look.
RULES OF USE
1. Dog owners and park users assume all risk related to park use.
2. All dog owners are subject to the Ontario Dog Owners' Liability Act, 1990.
3. Hours of Operation – 24 hours.
4. Dogs must have current dog tags.
5. Dogs must be current on all vaccinations. Puppies under six (6) months are not allowed in the park as they will not have all vaccinations.
6. Dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting the park.
7. Aggressive dogs will not be permitted in the park.
8. Dogs that are required to be muzzled and secured by a leash, in accordance with the City of Owen Sound By - law 1993- 132, as amended, or as required in the Dog Owners' Liability Act, 1990, must be muzzled and are not permitted to run at large in the Off
Leash Dog Park Area.
9. Female dogs in heat are prohibited from entering the park.
10. Dog owners must be in the park and within view of their dogs at all times. Please do not bring more than three dogs to the
park at one time to ensure you have control over your dogs. Be ready to take control of any situation, you are responsible for
your dog's behavior.
11. As per By - law 1993 -132, owners must clean up after their dogs, and deposit waste in designated containers. It is possible that you missed picking up after your pet, so next time you pass an item that needs cleaning up, please pick it up to maintain the park.
12. Failure to abide by park rules will result in loss of privileges.
13. Some dogs exhibit unpredictable behavior around small children. For safety of children please do not bring children in to the dog
park unless closely supervised.
14. The Dog Park is for dogs, their owners/handlers and those accompanying them.
THIS IS NOT A CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times and kept under strict
supervision.
Do not allow children to run in the area and chase after dogs.
15. Owners of a dog are responsible for the acts and conduct of their animal at all times when it is in the park. Park users and
dog owners assume all risks related to the use of dog park.
Dog owners are subject to Ontario's Dog Owner Liability Act.
16. Fill in any holes created by your dog, or make appropriate repairs to disturbed areas.
