booktower-fullThe Great Annual Library Book Sale opens at 5:00 pm Tuesday, October 27 and runs through Sunday, November 1.

The 37th annual book sale will be held in the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library auditorium from Tuesday, October 27th at 5:00 pm through Sunday, November 1st during the Library's regular hours.

Thousands of nearly new and gently used hardcover books, paperbacks, DVDs, Blu-Rays, puzzles and board games will be available. Eager shoppers will want to visit more than once to search for new and hidden treasures as the tables will be constantly re-stocked with more items. Cash, cheque, debit, Visa or MasterCard are accepted.

Again this year, the Library will host a Preview Sale...

Good morning Miranda:

It is indeed a busy time, and so I will try and keep my response brief.

Tomorrow night, the trustees will have an opportunity to decide whether or not to proceed with the accommodation review process in the Owen Sound and Meaford area schools.

If the trustees decide to proceed, according to our policy it triggers the following consultations:

1) A pre-public consultation process that will be at least 30 days in length, during which the following will happen - a consultation meeting with both levels of municipal government and other interested community partners; establishment of an ARC; hosting a meeting with the ARC members to clarify their role.

2) Following the above, there will be a minimum of

excite-fullWould-be entrepreneurs have until Friday, Oct. 30 to pitch their business ideas to experts at Georgian College who can help turn dreams into reality. The college's annual exCite! competition is now underway.

exCite! gives participants the chance to discuss their invention, product, product improvement or idea with a friendly panel of experts.

Each participant receives expert advice around such topics as next steps, networking opportunities, links to valuable resources, free admission to a MaRS Discovery District pitch workshop at Georgian's Barrie Campus on Wednesday, Nov. 4, as well as the chance to win great prizes.

What a busy week! Apologies for the mass email, but there doesn't seem to be much time left to reach out to each of you by phone.

After having a chance to discuss this at our School Community Council (SCC) meeting at Sydenham and with a group of parents from Derby, Dufferin, Sydenham and Bayview schools, I'll be asking you Tuesday to vote "No" to commencing the Accommodation Review process as it currently stands.

My reasoning is outlined in the below,

ACM03tAt the Owen Sound Hub we want to be the place you come for information and inspiration. We want to ask the hard questions and be part of the discussion that helps us find the answers together.
In this pursuit, we are always looking for unique sources of content for you and today we are excited to bring you something completely new for the Hub.
