cobble beach chefCobble Beach is pleased to announce the recent hire of Jeremy McKinnon, who will join the Sweetwater Restaurant team as the new Executive Chef.

Jeremy is joining Cobble Beach from Centerplate, the exclusive food and beverage provider at the St. John’s Convention Center in Newfoundland. During his 24 years of experience, he has worked for many 4- and 5-star hotel brands including: Delta Hotels, Fairmont Hotels, Marriott Hotels and the former Starwood Hotels. Jeremy also spent three years at the Fairmont St. Andrews in Scotland, which has two championship golf courses. During his time there, they hosted the Scottish Seniors Open! More recently, he had the opportunity to work for The Fairmont Chateau Whistler, which is often referred to as “the best mountain Golf course in Canada.”

In addition to Jeremy’s arrival, Cobble Beach will be launching a new outdoor restaurant concept called the Creekside Terrace; a direct response to the Covid-19 pandemic.cobble beach chef 2

“People are hesitant about dining indoors, despite all the safety protocols in place. People feel much safer outside on the patio, enjoying a meal with the fresh air and wide-open space. It’s because of this that we’re switching our focus outside,” says Jessica Brookshaw, Food & Beverage Manager.

While large social events are still not permitted, Cobble Beach made the decision to take down the Marquis Tent structure which normally hosted large gatherings and instead expand the patio to the north side of the Clubhouse. This new expansion will add 2,100 sq. ft. of outdoor patio space and create a new culinary concept.

“The Creekside Terrace will be separate from the Sweetwater Restaurant. Creekside is all about the experience! It’s a more laid-back environment compared to the five-star dining experience in the restaurant. On top of a new menu, we will have our stunning views, lounge areas and live musical entertainment throughout the summer – featuring lots of talented, local artists,” says Brookshaw. “Outside we will be offering more pub-style food including a pizza oven, nachos and finger foods versus the three course meals offered in the Sweetwater,”says Jeremy McKinnon.

With the addition of the Creekside Terrace, Cobble Beach will have the largest patio in Grey-Bruce. The grand opening of the Creekside Terrace will be confirmed once Provincial Restrictions are lifted and patios are permitted to open. For now, Creekside Take-Out is available every Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 4pm and 7pm – this gives people a taste of our new Creekside Terrace Patio menu during the lockdown.
