Alexandra Community School recently participated in the first-ever Eagle Enduro Trail Race at Harrison Park in Owen Sound.
Despite the autumnal atmosphere, the Eagles enthusiastically ran various distances through the park. The route followed along the river, the Bruce Trail, and the paved paths throughout the park. It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to experience trail running, most for the first time. After the race, the students had a BBQ and enjoyed exploring Harrison Park’s many attractions.
The race was organized by Judy Shaughnessy and Greg Fullerton, who were the cross country running coaches for the school. Their dream and vision was to host an all-school event for children to have an opportunity to run on the Bruce Trail, and encourage trail running.
The race would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the many local runners and volunteers helping to direct traffic and cheer on our athletes, and the City of Owen Sound for allowing our school to use Harrison Park for our running event.
Thank you everyone for supporting this new tradition! Stay tuned for future versions of the Eagle Enduro!
