ONE BILLION RISING OWEN SOUND 2016 will take place on Friday, April 29th featuring multi Juno nominee Alysha Brilla. The One Billion Rising campaign is named for the global statistic that one out of three women will be beaten or raped during their lifetime. One billion women and girls will face abuse. The organization began a global campaign in 2013 with the idea that communities across the world could host an event to show solidarity and express anger over this injustice. This year's theme is One Billion Rising: Rise for Revolution. There will be a flash mob with Alysha in front of City Hall at 5 pm. At 9 pm at Heartwood Concert

Hall there will be a short presentation on the topic leading into a concert from Alysha Brilla and the Brilltones. Local artist Andrew Nunno will open with a song he composed specifically for this event. Local poet Kaitlyn Dickinson will be presenting a piece on the theme. There will be a silent auction featuring great quality items from HER Wellness store. Doors open at 8pm.
