The staff and students at Owen Sound District Secondary School would like to thank both the O.P.P. and Martin's Bus Lines for their support during our "O.S.D.S.S. Terry Fox Marathon of Hope 2016". On Oct. 21, twenty-two students and three teachers took a Martin's bus out to Oliphant and began a 42 kilometre run back to the school. Moving ahead 2 or 3 kilometres at a time, the bus stopped and waited for the runners to catch up. After a quick drink of water runners were back on the road. The bus provided a resting place for tired runners as well as water and snacks. Some students ran the entire way. Most ran 25 – 35 kilometres. In the process students gained a much greater understanding of the accomplishments of Terry Fox. Terry ran this distance every day for 143 consecutive days; an almost unbelievable feat. In addition, the O.S.D.S.S. crew were able to raise over $1200 for the Terry Fox Foundation.
Thanks again to our community supporters for helping to make this event happen. We couldn't have done it without you.
