fire-logo-featureThe Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services have left the scene of a fire that occurred in the corridor of the 2nd floor of Victoria Towers, 825 9th Street West. The fire which began in an electrical panel was contained to the area around the panel.

The building owners now have care of the building. The hallway lighting, stairwell lighting and elevator are all operating. Power to the apartments will not be provided until the damaged panel has been replaced. The building owners have posted a fire watch on site until the fire alarm system has been repaired. The units are equipped with battery powered smoke alarms.

Crich Holdings who own the building have an electrician on site working on getting the electrical repairs completed. The Electrical Safety Authority is on site.

fire-logo-featureAt approximately 8:25 p.m. Wednesday evening the Owen Sound Fire Department, Grey Bruce Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Owen Sound Police responded to the complaint of smoke in the hallway of the Victoria Towers apartment complex located at 825 9th Street West, Owen Sound.

Once on scene fire personal were able to make their way through the dense smoke in the main hallway on the 2nd floor to find the source and location of the fire. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished. The fire appears to have started...

labradoodle-featureThe Grey Bruce Health Unit is seeking assistance from the public in finding the owner of a dog involved in a biting incident that occurred in Meaford.

 

On July 22, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a woman walking a white terrier on the waterfront near the museum was confronted by a brown labradoodle that proceeded to attack her terrier. In her attempts to separate the two dogs, the woman was bitten. The labradoodle ran off.

Staff of the Grey Bruce Health Unit need to confirm the dog is not infectious with rabies. By verifying the health of the dog, the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment. BWalker-headshot-featureVeteran Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop has announced that he is resigning his seat to allow Progressive Leader Patrick Brown to run in a byelection. Originally a strong opponent of Brown's leadership bid, Dunlop appears to have had a change of heart about the former MP from neighbouring Barrie. After a thirty-five year career in municipal and provincial politics, Dunlop will not be serving in Brown's caucus.

Premier Kathleen Wynne has not yet announced a date for the byelection, saying only "stay tuned".
