The Grey Bruce Health Unit is seeking assistance from the public in finding the owner of a dog involved in a biting incident that occurred in Meaford.
On July 22, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a woman walking a white terrier on the waterfront near the museum was confronted by a brown labradoodle that proceeded to attack her terrier. In her attempts to separate the two dogs, the woman was bitten. The labradoodle ran off.
Staff of the Grey Bruce Health Unit need to confirm the dog is not infectious with rabies. By verifying the health of the dog, the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment. Veteran Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop has announced that he is resigning his seat to allow Progressive Leader Patrick Brown to run in a byelection. Originally a strong opponent of Brown's leadership bid, Dunlop appears to have had a change of heart about the former MP from neighbouring Barrie. After a thirty-five year career in municipal and provincial politics, Dunlop will not be serving in Brown's caucus.
Premier Kathleen Wynne has not yet announced a date for the byelection, saying only "stay tuned".

Bruce Peninsula National Park has received a huge increase in its resources. The Park has become 512 acres bigger, thanks to a generous donation by the Krug family, and the land has been incorporated into ongoing plans to conserve and restore areas within the park. MP Larry Miller, on behalf of the Minister responsible for Parks Canada, announced infrastructure investments totalling $15.6 million for several Parks Canada projects across both Bruce Peninsula National Park and Fathom Five National Marine Park.
The Krug family came to Bruce County in the 1880s, building a furniture business that helped build Chesley. Bruce Krug was a founding member of the Bruce Trail Club on the peninsula in 1964. From their cottage in Tobermory, he and his brother acquired "sizable acreages" in the north Bruce which they made available for trails, and worked diligently on the hard, physical work of building the Bruce Trail from Tobermory to Dyer's Bay. Incorporating their land into the National Park will continue their legacy of nature preservation.

The Police are asking for anyone who witnessed or has information regarding any of the three motor vehicle collisions that occurred over the weekend in the city to please contact the Owen Sound Police Service at 519-376-2134.
A single motor vehicle collision occurred around 5:20 p.m. on Saturday June 27th. A 2007 green Ford pickup was westbound on 16th Street East when it travelled off the roadway at 5th Avenue and struck a tree. There was extensive front end damage to the truck; the driver alone in the vehicle was not injured. The 21 year old male driver of Paisley was charge with careless driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The vehicle had been borrowed from a friend in order to pick up some furniture that had been purchased by the driver.
