child careBruce County Children’s Services continues to work with parents and key community partners to help support the development of children in our region. Bruce County is encouraging parents to take part in the Journey Through the Ages and Stages initiative this November and explore the developmental progress of their children (ages 1 month to 5 years) by completing two short 10 to 15 minute questionnaires.

The ASQ-3® questionnaire will help explore a child’s development in the areas of communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, and personal-social skills. The ASQ SE-2® questionnaire will help discover a child’s social-emotional development in self-regulation, compliance, adaptive functioning, autonomy, affect, social-communication, and interaction with people.

“The Journey Through the Ages and Stages initiative is a key service offered by Bruce County Children’s Services to help parents celebrate their child’s milestones and provide information and support for their early learning needs,” says Children’s Services Manager Tina Metcalfe, “Together, we can help local children on their path to life-long learning.”

Warden Janice Jackson adds, “The first few years of life are very important for children as they set the stage for their journey in learning. Parents and guardians are active partners in their child’s learning and development and can establish a great start through this Journey Through the Ages and Stages initiative.”

To receive the age appropriate questionnaires for your child(ren), or if you have any questions, please reach out to your licensed child care program, your local the Bruce County EarlyON Child and Family Centre, or email [email protected].
