The Sydenham is pleased to announce that the floors are rising for the seven-storey condominium development in downtown Owen Sound. Concrete columns and walls for the lower level parking garage are almost complete as the building moves above ground level. Formwork for the first floor and for the terraces over the river is currently underway.
The companies performing the concrete work are on site constructing the lower level of the development. Piles driven to bedrock, sanitary and water lines and the lower level concrete floor have already beeninstalled. With 150 feet of the structure already in the ground, the remaining third of the building height will now start to become visible above street level.
Over the summer and fall, the concrete ground floor will be poured and the 80-foot structural steel shell of the building will be erected. Interior finishing will begin in the later part of the year. The skyline of downtown Owen Sound will change dramatically in a few short months as the building grows.
Thirty-two new homes in the downtown core of Owen Sound mean an increase in business and activity coming to the downtown area.
The Sydenham is a development of 32 luxury condominiums on the banks of the historic Sydenham River at the corner of 9th Street East and 1st Avenue West. Occupancy is anticipated beginning in early 2017.
