Charges have been laid against a Georgian Bluffs man after a single vehicle collision in the 1700 block of the Eddie Sargent Parkway.

At approximately 2:35 a.m. emergency services were tiered to respond to a call of a vehicle that had smashed into a tree. Arriving officers found Dangera silver 2012 Mazda sedan completely destroyed and resting on its roof at the foot of a tree in the Kelso Campground.

Witnesses had observed the vehicle speeding north bound from 14 th Street West at an extremely high rate of speed. Curious, they followed the vehicle's path and found it in its obliterated state, and called 911 immediately. Upon their arrival, the single occupant was crawling out from the driver's seat of the wreckage. He was transported by ambulance to hospital, and found to have only minor injuries.

Investigation revealed that the vehicle went airborne after crossing the bridge at the Pottawatomi River, lost control, crossed into southbound lanes, struck a utility pole, knocked out several wooden posts and finally struck the tree and came to rest.

The 25 year old man is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. Following a 4-hour closure, the Eddy Sargent Parkway has been opened in both directions. The young man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
