OS-Police-cuffsCharges have been laid against an Owen Sound man after a disturbance in downtown Owen Sound on Sunday afternoon.

The Owen Sound Police Service was called investigate an edged weapon attack which occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. on 3rd Avenue East near 10th Street East.

Officers responded after a man had returned to his residence with an injury to his lower back. The victim, also an Owen Sound male, was transported to hospital and received a number of stitches to close the wound, which was not life threatening.

The accused man, 36 years of age, was arrested by police outside of his east side residence at 7:45 p.m. without further incident.

He has been charged with:

* Assault

* Assault with a Weapon

* Uttering a Death Threat

* Possession of a Schedule 2 Substance – marihuana.

He is held in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for Monday morning at Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound. The weapon was not recovered.

This is not a random attack. Investigation shows the confrontation was in relation to an unpaid debt between two men who are known to each.
