Experience the dramatic history of firefighting with this Grey Roots original exhibit, Facing the Flames: The History of Firefighting in Grey County.
Starting September 21, discover stories of local fire and rescue from the first brave bucket brigades to our current highly-trained professionals. Step into the fire hall and see if you can handle the heat in the timed firefighting activity. Explore historic and modern equipment, including a fully restored 1923 LaFrance fire truck – Owen Sound Fire Engine No. 1.
“This exhibit will place Grey County’s firefighting history in context with that of Canada’s,” says Sim Salata, Collections Manager. “We’re excited to be telling such important stories.
”Facing the Flames: The History of Firefighting in Grey County will feature video interviews with firefighters from all Grey County Fire Departments as well as historical photos and fire video footage.
