This holiday season the Owen Sound Police Service once again joins with local merchants and community members to help bring some merriment and joy to those families that are less fortunate.
Our "Stuff The Cruiser Event" is not a hand-out, but rather a "hand-up" for those that rely on the services and kindness of the food bank in Owen Sound.
Every year, we are overwhelmed by the support that our event receives from people in the community. Last year we collected the weight equivalency of a small sedan!
This past weekend, we were at METRO in downtown Owen Sound and collected more than 1,200 lbs of non-perishable food items. This weekend we will be at Food Basic's on Saturday from 1pm to 5pm and on Sunday from 9am to 3pm.
The following weekend, we will be at Zehr's from 5pm to 9pm on Saturday and 9am to 3pm on Sunday.
We work and live here too, and are participating in the event by having an in-house police food drive, where our members are having a friendly competition to see which team can collect the most food to donate to the cause.
We wish you and your families a safe, healthy and happy holiday season. Please come by and stuff the cruiser!
