On Wednesday February 7, 2018 a 40 year old Owen Sound woman was arrested and charged by members of the Owen Sound Police Service with numerous criminal offences including 13 counts of theft from coin operated laundry machines. The investigation revealed that thefts have occurred on multiple occasions at two downtown apartment buildings between late December, 2017 and early February 2018.

The accused was located by police in the downtown area and was arrested without incident. Upon arrest, the accused was found in possession of a homemade tool she had used to remove coins from the machines as well as a small quantity of Fentanyl.

In addition to stealing money, the accused is also charged with multiple counts of possession of break- in instruments as well as three counts of mischief, having caused damage to two laundry machines during the course of the thefts as well as a surveillance camera that she covered using a marker in an attempt to conceal her activities.

The accused was additionally charged with Possession of Fentanyl and has been released from custody. The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in March.
