On January 22, 2020 at 2:24 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) patrolling Highway 6 north of Springmount, Georgian Bluffs stopped a (beige) truck approaching the OPP cruiser at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was recorded by radar travelling at 147 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a posted 80 km/h zone.
Grey Bruce OPP officers arrested the driver of the truck for operating a motor vehicle with blood alcohol level over 80 milligrams, following a fail on road-side screening device. There were 3 additional passengers in the vehicle when it was stopped by OPP.
A 25 year old from Owen Sound has been charged with the following offences,
Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada
Race a motor vehicle - Stunt, section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act
Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, section 2017 12(1) Cannabis Control Act
Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available, section 32(1) Liquor Licence Act
The accused was released on an Undertaking with a court date in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on February 6, 2020.
