opp-graphic-regularMEAFORD – On Thursday, August 14, 2014 at approximately 7:31 p.m., Grey County OPP, the Meaford Fire Department and Grey County EMS responded to a fire on Boucher Street West in Meaford.

At the time, an 18-year-old Meaford woman was air lifted to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries. She has since died as a result of her injuries.

diver-regNORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA – On Tuesday, August 12, at approximately 3:58 p.m., Bruce Peninsula Ontario OPP attended the Fathom Five National Marine Park in Northern Bruce Peninsula to conduct a death investigation.

The victim was one of five scuba divers on a diving expedition to the Caroline Rose Shipwreck located in Driftwood Cove within the Fathom Five National Marine Park in Georgian Bay. He had entered the water and showed no signs of distress. Shortly afterwards he was observed on the surface without any vital signs.

Grey Bruce Health Services new president and CEO, Lance Thurston, took time out recently to answer questions from The Owen Sound Hub. Thurston, formerly Grey County's CAO, began his new position Aug. 5, following the retirement of Maureen Solecki.

Q: Why make a change from Grey County CAO to head up GBHS?

A: I have long had a keen interest in health care administration and delivery. This is an opportunity for me to work for a health care organization I know well (having served as a Board member for 4 years) and in a community that I love and wish to continue serving.

opp-graphic-regularGEORGIAN BLUFFS – On Friday, August 8, 2014 at approximately 11:38 p.m., Grey County OPP responded to a report of serious, single-vehicle collision on Hwy. 6 & 21 on the Sunset Strip.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix moving west on Hwy. 6 & 21 proceeded through a red light at the intersection of Grey Rd. 17B. The driver lost control of the car and struck a hydro pole on the north side of the road (Royal LePage), causing a power outage in the area.

opp-car-regularOn Saturday, August 9, 2014 at approximately 1:29 a.m., emergency responders were at the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision which had occurred earlier on Hwy. 6 & 21 near Grey Rd. 17B in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.
